At Star Wellness MD, we understand the importance of a seamless and thorough process for immigration medical examinations, also known as immigration physicals. These exams are a mandatory step for individuals seeking to adjust their status to become lawful permanent residents in the United States. Our goal is to guide you through each stage with clarity and professionalism.

What to Expect During Your Immigration Physical?

  1. Medical History Review: We will begin by discussing your medical history, including any previous or current health conditions, surgeries, and medications. It’s essential to provide comprehensive and accurate information to ensure all health considerations are addressed.
  2. Physical Examination: A thorough physical examination will be conducted to assess your overall health. This includes evaluating vital signs, heart and lung function, and other standard health checks.
  3. Required Tests:
    • Tuberculosis Screening: Applicants aged 2 years and older are required to undergo a tuberculosis (TB) blood test. A positive result may necessitate a chest X-ray for further evaluation.
    • Syphilis Test: Individuals aged 15 years and older must have a blood test for syphilis.
    • Gonorrhea Test: A urine test for gonorrhea is required for applicants aged 15 years and older.
  1. Vaccination Assessment: We will review your vaccination records to ensure compliance with U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) requirements. The following vaccinations are typically required:
    • COVID-19
    • Hepatitis A
    • Hepatitis B
    • Influenza
    • Measles
    • Meningococcal
    • Mumps
    • Pertussis
    • Pneumococcal
    • Polio
    • Rotavirus
    • Rubella
    • Tetanus and diphtheria toxoids
    • Varicella

If you lack documentation for any of these vaccinations, we can assist you with information on where to obtain them.

Preparing for Your Appointment

To ensure a smooth examination process, please bring the following items to your appointment:

  • Government-Issued Photo Identification: Such as a driver’s license or passport.
  • Vaccination Records: Official documentation of all vaccinations you have received.
  • Form I-693: The “Report of Medical Examination and Vaccination Record” form, which you can download from the USCIS website.
  • Interpreter: Please bring someone who can help with interpretation if you require one

After the Examination

Once all components of the examination are completed and any necessary test results are received, we will finalize your Form I-693. You will receive this form in a sealed envelope, as required by USCIS, along with a copy for your personal records. It’s important not to open the sealed envelope, as it must remain sealed when submitted with your immigration application.
